POSITION OVERVIEW:
Performs advanced specialized laboratory examinations, analyses, evaluations, studies and/or investigations to gather technical data. This incumbent is a highly proficient specialist in assigned area of experience.
Some knowledge in the area listed is required at the entry level, developing knowledge is required at the intermediate level, considerable knowledge is required at the experienced level, thorough knowledge is required at the advanced level, and extensive knowledge is required at the specialist level.
Under minimum supervision from the assigned Laboratory Science Scientist or Sr. Scientist, the incumbent is responsible for conveying the results of key experiments to senior researchers in concise and clear tabulations, graphs, and simple reports. As a part of the learning process, learns how to interpret experimental results and communicate these findings and their relevance in a professional, accurate, efficient and useful manner.
This position will be responsible for conducting technical experiments, analyses, and tests requiring specific technical knowledge and techniques in projects supporting company research, production or service operations. Support senior researchers according to their project requirements. Support and maintain lab/field equipment as necessary. Appropriately document all research/support activities in accordance with our policies. Record laboratory experiments and other data & work flow in a laboratory notebook.
Depending on job function, also record data & experiments through group-specific data management systems and databases. Assure all research activities are performed in a manner that conforms to policies on safety and ethics and other external regulatory requirements.
The incumbent is a dedicated and talented professional who will provide materials synthesis and analysis for drilling and sustainable chemical technologiesat the Aramco Research Center―Houston. Perform chemistry intensive research and development projects requiring materials synthesis and characterization skills. The individual may have work experience relevant to synthesis of polymers, organic-inorganic hybrids, porous materials, CO2 storage, and hands-on experience on advanced characterization techniques.
The job requires the typical physical demands of a research center environment and is normally performed at an assigned global research center in Houston-TX. These GRC’s support research operations ranging from general laboratories to Pilot Plant and high hazard laboratories dealing with combustible gasses and liquids, hydrogen sulfide, high temperatures and high pressures. The facilities will be ventilated and air-conditioned, well-lighted laboratory/office buildings that meets building, occupational health & safety and facility access codes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Provides technical expertise in own area of work and experience. Makes interpretations and correlations of basic data as required to make a complete and comprehensive analysis.
Lab-scale synthesis of organic, organic-inorganic, and polymeric materials under the supervision.
Assists Science Specialists and Senior Scientists in reviewing and interpreting analytical data.
Works as a team member, under general supervision of a responsible scientist, in developing procedures for obtaining technical data.
has experience with analytical equipments such as LC-MS, FTIR, GC-MS, Titration, NMR.
Performs highly complex analytical tasks requiring many steps, through planning and/or use of advanced and sophisticated equipment and instrumentation.
Prepares comprehensive reports for discussion with his work director, utilizes computers frequently, to assist in data manipulation.
Serves as a technical reference for other non-professional laboratory technicians.
Observes safety rules, takes action on hazards and reports these items to Unit supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum two (2) college or an Associate Degree in related-science major required. Bachelor degree in related science discipline preferred.
Nine (9) years industrial research lab experience. Complete familiarity of standard laboratory practices.
Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient technical writing skills.
Employee must have a valid driver license and a three (3) year clean driving record if required by the position. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
