Burns & McDonnell Instrument Technician (Mont Belvieu, TX) in Houston, Texas

Description

Instrumentation Technicians are tasked with a diverse range of responsibilities that revolve around the upkeep of equipment performance through detailed maintenance tasks.

  • Installing new instrumentation systems and configuring them to the required settings.

  • Performing routine checks and maintenance on existing systems to prevent mechanical failure.

  • Calibrating instruments to ensure their accuracy and reliability in data gathering and process control.

  • Diagnosing issues and effectuating immediate repairs to mitigate downtime.

  • Updating system software and hardware to ensure technological compliance and efficiency.

  • Documenting processes and maintaining service reports to adhere to compliance and operational standards.

  • Collaborating with team members, including engineers and other technicians, to improve system performance.

  • Inspecting and testing instrumentation and control systems to guarantee optimal operation.

  • Reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and schematics.

  • Configuring and adjusting control systems and equipment according to production specifications.

  • Providing training and support to other technical staff and team members regarding system operation and troubleshooting complexities

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand and carry out oral instructions.

  • Read and carry out simple written instructions.

  • Read and carry out complicated written instructions.

  • Work at varying heights

  • Operate complex equipment and power tools.

  • Operate small equipment and power tools.

  • Must pass Burns & McDonnell assessments to be eligible for position

  • Must have 3 years of experience as Instrument Technician

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Employees will be required to be able to endure long periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and/or lifting.

  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.

  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding.

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
