JOB DESCRIPTION Position Overview:
Traf-Tex, Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Drill Operator to join our team. This position involves operating foundation drilling equipment to install high masts, light poles, and other vertical structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to
work in various field conditions and various locations.
Job Responsibilities:
Drilling: Operate and maintain drilling equipment for foundation shafts based on specific depths and diameters (Dry and Slurry shafts). (Texoma 600, 650, 800, Pressure Diggers, etc.) Monitor the equipment, maintain and manage the ground crew in a safe manner. Setup
equipment on the jobsite and execute work plans. Assist with and contribute to jobsite clean-up and material handling when not operating the drill rig. Pre-Drilling Surveys: Conduct pre-drilling surveys to determine the appropriate drilling path and identify potential obstacles or hazards. Evaluate ground conditions, equipment setup positions,
spatial needs for all trucks, equipment and crew. Utility Location: Ensure all utilities in the construction path are located and accounted for before drilling. Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on drilling equipment, including fluid checks and visual inspections. Provide written inspection reports as needed for any issues or
necessary repairs. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your crew members. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily logs and equipment maintenance reports. Communication: Communicate effectively with
supervisors, team members, and customers to ensure drilling and project requirements are met. Training: Provide training and assistance to coworkers as needed. Work Site Conditions: Jobsites are located at various construction jobsites. The nature of this business will require travel and work out of town for various time periods. Requirements -
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Physical Abilities: Strength: Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. multiple times during a work shift. Endurance: Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work for long periods. Flexibility: Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, walk on uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and
push/pull. Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work outside in all types of environmental conditions, including adverse weather. Safety Compliance: Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions and comply with drug/alcohol-free policies. Medical Requirements: This is a safety sensitive position, with required drug screenings.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years' experience required. Previous experience in foundation drilling and slurry method drilling is preferred. Proven experience as a Drill Rig Operator in the foundation drilling industry. Knowledge of different drilling methods and techniques. References preferred. Skills: o Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to
operate heavy equipment. Ability to read and understand plans. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine-related issues, and on site and quickly. o Strong communication skills are required. On a daily basis, the ability to coordinate work and communicate with crew members, outside vendors/subcontractors,
general contractor, customers and inspectors at or near a job site is crucial.
Licenses: Valid Drivers License is preferred for traveling purposes
Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and accountability for conduct.
Available for flexible scheduling, including overtime and weekend shifts.
Teamwork: Ability to work well independently and as part of a
team.
