Description

The Coordinator of Campus Programming is responsible for collaborating with the Assistant Director and Campus Activities Board for programming events hosted by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. The Coordinator of Campus Programming assists with program development, event logistics, marketing and promotion efforts, implementation, and post-event feedback mechanisms. This position also supports student outreach and connection efforts for the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, provides supervision to the mascot program, manages social media engagement, and maintains the department website.

Duties:

  • Assists the Assistant Director with programmatic development, implementation, and promotion of large-scale collaborative campus and divisional programs and events. Supports late night and weekend programs as needed.

  • Advises students on opportunities to get involved on campus and connects students with campus partners for college or divisional engagement opportunities. Leads department outreach efforts for the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, including tabling opportunities, orientation events, information sessions, and other collaborations with campus partners.

  • Serves as advisor to the Campus Activities Board. Coordinates, supports, and promotes co-curricular programs and events hosted by the Campus Activities Board that create a welcoming campus environment and encourages engagement of the student population. Provides support and review for travel, budget, and contract needs. Serves as liaison between recognized student organizations and the Campus Activities Board by assisting with and advising on collaborative opportunities.

  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, supervision, and ongoing development of student leaders. Coordinates scheduling, appearances, and ongoing outreach for university spirit programs and mascot team to the UHCL community and collaborates with campus partners for attendance at events and programs.

  • Responsible for maintaining department event calendar, department website, marketing and promotional materials, and department social media channels to highlight student involvement opportunities. Collaborates with Division of Student Affairs marketing team to provide marketing and advertising support for department events.

  • Coordinates and administers the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data and feedback mechanisms. Prepares summaries and reports on student involvement in campus programs.

  • Collaborates with office staff on all department programs, special projects, and other community building events. Collaborates with staff outside of the Office to Student Involvement and Leadership to host events and activities. Serves on divisional and university-wide committees and advisory boards. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree.

  2. Experience working in a college or university setting.

  3. Knowledge of student development theories and best practices, preferably in higher education.

  4. Knowledge of group dynamics and supervision.

  5. Skills in collaborative event planning and coordination.

  6. Skills in project management and time management.

  7. Skills in verbal and written communication.

  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

  9. Ability to assess situations and problem solve.

  10. Ability to train and develop student leaders, individually and in groups.

Desired:

Master's degree.

Experience supporting and working with, developing, and implementing student programs and events.

Bilingual Skillset.
