About Health Services:

The Health Services division of the HCJPD is responsible for the medical, psychological, and treatment programs within the agency. The services operated within this division include the medical staff that assess and treat youth in the detention center and post-adjudicated facilities. In addition, the division has mental health therapists who provide crisis counseling, and individual, group and family therapy to youth both in the detention center and under community supervision. Lastly, the Health Services division oversees the four specialty courts that operate within the agency to help address some of the underlying factors that may be impacting a youths functioning.

About the Position:

The Clinical Supervisor manages and oversees the clinical and administrative functions of the Psychological and Social Services Unit. This includes delivering direct mental health services to youth in the Juvenile Justice Center throughout their stay. The goal is to address the youths' needs to ensure their mental and physical well-being, as well as their safety and security while in custody.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises daily assignments and triaging of all incoming referrals, including monitoring assessments to ensure timely completion and supervise the update and completion of the Special Attention List to ensure its accuracy.
  • Provides daily crisis management and supervision for clinical staff and interns.
  • Offers both clinical and administrative supervision and training for staff and interns.
  • Develops and implements effective programs within the Juvenile Justice Center to address the clinical needs of youth.
  • Reviews clinical notes to ensure quality, completeness, and timeliness, and supervises the upkeep of youth records.
  • Communicates with interdepartmental treatment providers and staff regarding youth.
  • Conducts clinical assessments and provides crisis interventions for juveniles in detention as needed.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with local universities and colleges to support a robust internship program.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • MSW/MA/MS degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance or Counselingfrom an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5)years of post-Master's clinical experience in a detention, jail, residential or mental health setting when clinical/psychosocial/psychological assessments and counseling are the linician's primary responsibilities.

Licensures:

  • Must be licensed as a LCSW, LPC, LPA, or LMFT in the State of Texas.
  • Must possess a supervisor license for their respective license.
