UTHealth Clinical Data Analyst - Pediatric Surgery - 2500005V in Houston, Texas

This is an exciting opportunity for the Pediatric Surgery research team to support data of the research! This full-time non-exempt position is located at 6431 Fannin St., Houston, Texas 77030. Your background in data receipt and analysis is needed for our involvement in an International Pediatric Trauma Consortium Clinical Trial. This is a data-based research role.

Utilizing analytical and data management tools, performs intermediate-level data creation, management, analysis, and troubleshooting activities in support of multiple research projects and studies. Works to maintain a large and growing, international dataset. Will be building a data input system/process for a large, multicenter clinical trial.

Performs occasional, basic statistical analyses associated with research projects. Supports clinical providers, including (but not limited to) nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians (usually pediatric surgeons) in data management.

This exciting opportunity is in-person, with future potential for hybrid work.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for managing/maintaining data for multiple projects or research efforts.

  2. Creates, supports, and troubleshoots tools or software used to manage data.

  3. Develops and maintains quality controls for all research databases.

  4. Designs database queries and compiles, analyzes, and reports statistical data for research projects.

  5. Interfaces with vendors and offsite (often international) researchers and coordinators.

  6. Interfaces with our care team on a daily basis.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

  8. A positive attitude and ability to work with a team are mandatory.

Detailed knowledge of query design, report creation, and graphic representations of data.

Knowledge and experience managing complex databases.

Experience providing analysis of data.

Must be facile with: Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word

Preferred: RedCap, GraphPad Prism (or equivalent data analysis and graphical software)

Position Summary:

Responsible for the data management function involved in clinical research, including applications and operations addressing relevant standards, guidelines, and best practices. Ensures data management complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; and institution and study requirements, policies and procedures.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Develops, documents, and monitors the Data Management Plans for each clinical trial study.

Develops protocols with study sponsors.

Creates study start-up presentations and delivers in-services.

Responsible for regulatory management, including working with principal investigators and co-investigators

May coordinate development and implementation of data management for multicenter studies.

Participates in the creation of Case Report forms and their translation into electronic forms.

Responsible for all custom software development and support of existing applications including analysis, design, testing, deployment, training, and support.

Conducts feasibility studies and analysis of proposed projects.

Develops and maintains quality controls for all research databases.

Communicates quality and performance measures, and operation information to management, clinical trial staff, and users.

Responsible for measuring and achieving data quality goals in clinical studies and trials.

Reviews and evaluates available tools, methodologies, best practices, and techniques to optimize data management activities.

Responsible for providing data and/or making presentations to outside organizations or individuals on clinical data issues as required.

Prepares or assists in the preparation of budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff, authorizes expenditures for multiple projects. Attends research planning meetings to prepare budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.

Provides d y to day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel, facilities, and supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.

Certification/Skills:

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma required. Prefer a Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Experience:

Two years experience required; experience in a clinical setting preferred. Additional education can be used in lieu of experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
