Position Overview

As a Civil Superintendent for Kiewit, you will function as a field supervisor overseeing civil project operations on power/energy construction projects and be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specifications, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish project goals, either directly or through general foreman/foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. Responsibilities

  • Act as a field supervisor overseeing civil construction operations on power/energy construction projects.

  • Lead and oversee construction operations for lime/cement stabilizations and other civil scopes of work.

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop direct reports.

  • Review and approve the balance of foremen, journeymen, and laborer’s composite labor rates.

  • Collaborate and communicate with design project teams to complete tasks.

  • Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication).

  • Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on site.

  • Initiate and attend meetings for problem resolution and planning.

  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.

  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.

  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover.

  • Create, update, review, and maintain daily reports and logs for record keeping purposes.

  • Ensure that all performance evaluations are completed and documented in a timely fashion for direct reports.

  • Recommend organizational, policy, procedural, and/or staff changes as needed.

  • Review, approve, and/or reject promotions up to General Foremen.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of construction experience with experience working in a superintendent/leadership capacity supporting civil construction operations.

  • Experience supporting civil project functions on industrial and/or power construction projects.

  • Experience working on design-build construction projects and collaborating/communicating with design project teams.

  • Knowledge and experience leading/overseeing lime and cement stabilizations.

  • Ability to travel and/or relocate as needed to projects located in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and surrounding states.

  • Experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.

  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures, and software programs.

  • Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
