Project Overview:

Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices. The positions on this project will start as assignment in Nagothane.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will support contractor’s superintendents and/or craft professionals in the assigned area of the project. You will support craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure contractor’s craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements

  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.

  • Coordinates with engineering on constructability issues

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Civil engineering or scientific discipline. Actual work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the technical knowledge described above. Minimum experience required for this role is 20 years.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of all phases of Civil construction activities relating to a single or multiple area.

  • Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.

  • Knowledge of Indian standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated with the construction activities.

  • Familiar with Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.

  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.

  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors/craft professionals.
