MD Anderson Cancer Center Associate Vice President, Hospital Planning and Advancement in Houston, Texas

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Associate Vice President (AVP), Hospital Planning and Advancement, leads the planning, strategy and implementation of our Austin market entry strategy and leads the clinical teams though the planning of the facilities needed to execute that strategy. The AVP of Hospital Planning and Advancement will work with their dyad partner, the AVP of Clinical Care Advancement to design, develop and implement new sites of comprehensive cancer care in the Austin region, leveraging the experience and expertise MD Anderson provides in caring for patients needing cancer services.

The AVP will play an integral role in the cultivation of internal and external stakeholders, to support the Clinical Enterprise and enhance the efforts of the institutional Austin expansion strategy. Serves as the Clinical Leader for the programmatic validation, development, and facilities enablement of clinical operations in these newly formed sites of care. Works directly and in collaboration with subject matter experts and institutional leaders to develop and design operations that include quality and safety programs, patient experience, staffing models and other direct and non-direct patient care and ancillary services.

Key Functions

  • Is the Administrative dyad partner with the Associate Vice President Clinical Care Advancement and partners to design, develop and implement new sites of comprehensive cancer care in the Austin region.

  • AVP will play an integral role in the short and long-term cultivation of internal and external stakeholders, to support the Clinical Enterprise and enhance the efforts of the institutional Texas expansion strategy.

  • Serves as the Administrative Leader for the programmatic development and facilities enablement of clinical operations in these newly formed sites of care, with an immediate focus on Austin.

  • Form and lead internal and external teams that support development of key aspects of the Austin expansion, including but not limited to entry to market strategy; programmatic validation, workforce planning, quality and safety programs, and other direct and non-direct patient care and ancillary services.

  • Partners with the VP of Ambulatory Operations and Clinical Infrastructure Development to facilitate planning and design of regional facilities and coordinates these efforts with current institutional leaders and locations.

  • Partners with the Executive Director - Office of COO to develop and execute an entry strategy to the Austin Market, as well as facility design process that is inclusive to all members of the Operations and MD Anderson Faculty leadership teams

  • Partners with Strategy, Finance and Facilities to develop and execute a cohesive and comprehensive Texas facilities strategy with an emphasis on the Austin market

  • Works directly and in collaboration with subject matter experts and institutional leaders to develop and design operations that include quality and safety programs, patient experience, staffing models and other direct and non-direct patient care and ancillary services.

  • Serves as an advisor to leadership, faculty and administrators in developing cohesive plans in alignment with MD Anderson's priorities.

  • Participate in regular team meetings, as directed. Attends events/special functions, as requested by the Chief Operating Officer.

Education

Required: Masters in Heath Care Administration, Business Administration, or related field

Experience

Required:

10 years healthcare experience in the hospital or clinic setting.

5 Years of people leadership experience with a track record or getting results through others in a dynamic environment

Preferred:

At least 10 years of healthcare experience

Healthcare facility planning or activation experience.
