Robert Half Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas
Description
We are offering an opportunity for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be working in the finance sector, focusing on maintaining the school's financial health and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role is integral to the development and monitoring of the school's budget.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with school administrators and finance committee to oversee and report on all financial matters
• Identify potential financial issues and opportunities to enhance the school's programs
• Attend weekly administrative meetings, regular board sessions, and assigned committee meetings
• Stay updated with independent school issues and financial trends at the federal and state level, including with the Texas Department of Agriculture
• Work with the Head of School and Board Finance Committee to develop short- and long-term budgets and sustainable financial models
• Ensure the school's bookkeeping is organized and managed, adhering to General Accepted Accounting Principles
• Oversee the annual audit, IRS 990 Tax Return, benefit reporting return, and other required government filings
• Review and reconcile investment account activity on a quarterly basis
• Review and recommend ideas for revenue generation and cost reduction for summer and after-school programs while maintaining program quality.

Requirements
• Applicant must hold a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within an accounting department is required.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation is essential.
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proven experience with financial reporting and financial data analysis.
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly high proficiency in Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is a plus.
• Experience in budget preparation and expense review procedures is desirable.
