OneSouce EHS Structural Welder in Houma, Louisiana

Structural steel welders work on the fit up and welding of steel assemblies that make up columns, beams, rafters, trusses and other structural items that are the framework for commercial industrial buildings, and other steel structures. * Responsibilities:* * The primary responsibility is to weld various structural steel components together to create a strong and durable structure. This may involve using various welding techniques, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). * Ability to read and interpret blueprints is essential for a certified structural steel welder. They must be able to understand the structural requirements of a project and follow the blueprint specifications to ensure that the final product meets the necessary standards. * Responsible for ensuring that their welds meet the necessary quality standards. This may involve conducting visual inspections or using non-destructive testing techniques like dye penetrants to identify any defects in the welds. * Follow all safety protocols and ensure that their work area is safe for themselves and their colleagues. * Responsible for maintaining their welding equipment to ensure that it is in good working condition. This may involve cleaning, repairing, or replacing equipment as needed. * Work in a team environment and must be able to communicate effectively with their colleagues to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. * Skill Development: As part of an internal training program welders can be exposed to the operation of similar machines in the production line to increase the overall knowledge, flexibility for coverage while operating under the same connecting environment. * Qualifications:* * Have a technical school degree from a welding program, along with a high school diploma or equivalent, * Welding Training: demonstrate completion of a welding training program that covers various welding techniques, safety protocols, and blueprint reading. * Accreditation for non-destructive welding inspection techniques such as but not limited to: ultrasound, x-ray or dye penetrants. * Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel welding for buildings, bridges or other steel structures. * Physical Fitness: Welding is a physically demanding job that requires standing for long periods, bending, and working in awkward positions. Our certified structural steel welders should be fit and able to perform the job duties safely. * Attention to Detail: Welding requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure that the welds are of high quality and meet the necessary standards. * Problem-Solving Skills: Certified structural steel welders should be able to identify and solve problems related to welding, such as identifying defects in the welds or finding ways to improve the efficiency of the welding process.
