Job Description Summary
The Health and Wellness Coordinator will coordinate health and wellness initiatives and programs for employees and retirees. The position will support the efforts of the Benefits and Wellness Manager in implementing programs that create awareness and access to wellness programs within Michigan Tech and in the community. The Health and Wellness Coordinator will support the Benefits Office in many employee benefit related areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Manages MTU Wellness 360 Program under the direction of the Manager of Benefits & Wellness.
Coordinate and promotes health and wellness initiatives and programs for employees.
Coordinate wellness presentations, lunch and learns, and other community outreach functions.
Review, process, submit, track and manage workers 'compensation claims.
Help coordinate and process university open enrollment for employees.
Coordinate MTU Wellness 360 options, including, but not limited to Wondr Health, BCBS challenges, Diabetes Prevention programs, Weight Watchers, Maintain Don't Gain, Lunch and Learns and personal training with Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology (KIP) program.
Maintain active promotion and updates of wellness programs to campus community through varied media, such as but not limited to weekly Wellness Newsletter, Tech Today articles, presentations, and forums.
Conduct benefit orientations for new employees; benefit exit interviews for terminating employees.
Provides a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services for the department and the university.
Preserves the confidentiality, security, and integrity of personal employee information.
Participates in and contributes to the review, development, and improvements for more efficient and effective HR benefit processes.
Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers to meet high quality standards for services.
Oversee all aspects of the student insurance program.
Act as a liaison with IT staff to establish, maintain and update student insurance procedures.
Facilitate and lead new employee orientations when needed.
Coordinates and develops HR training programs, workshops, and communications as needed.
Organizes and develops training course guides and materials such as handouts and visual materials.
Develops and delivers professional presentations and training to campus groups, large or small, using appropriate media, including PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and other methods to enhance effective communications.
Identifies administrative needs that occur on a routine basis.
Prepares special and periodic reports for review by management.
Commits to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in university continuous improvement initiatives.
Applies safety-related knowledge, skills and practices to everyday work.
