Senior HR Generalist reporting to HR Manager

The role

The key objectives of this role will be to efficiently and successfully support Thermo Fisher’s UK Field HR team execution of the company goal tree, ensuring that as a function we remain commercially focused, cost-effective and a critical resource to the organisation.

Based at Horsham with flexibility for some home working and occasional travel between sites.

The successful candidate will apply knowledge of business practices, methodologies and/or principles to help deliver short-term (1-2 years) functional goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that business leaders continue to be accountable for their employees by providing coaching on HR policies and processes, people management, and career development. Utilise data and provide people analytics to support the business in making impactful decisions based on data driven trends.

  • Actively participate in country HR projects to share standard processes and drive the improvement and development of UK wide HR policies processes and harmonization activity.

  • Support management in conducting employment and employee relations matters including conduct and capability, grievance and disciplinary, reductions in force, restructuring, absence and health issues. Identify regional employee relation trends and support in the execution to resolve with our business areas.

  • Partner with HR’s COE (Center of Excellence) platforms to complete large scale HR initiatives, ensuring that the HR model is followed through all activities.

  • Support the divisional HR Business Partners & Leaders in programs or strategies that impact the attraction, motivation, development, and retention of employees within the UK South Region.

  • Adopt and participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Experience, skills & abilities required:

  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent in Human Resources, Business Management, Economics or other business-related field.

  • CIPD Level 5.

  • Prior experience of the various aspects of human resources (talent acquisition, talent management, compensation, employee relations and organizational development).

  • Validated background in a manufacturing environment or rapid expansion preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of labour and employment laws and regulations, as well as HR concepts experience as an advisor to the business.

  • Strong process improvement orientation.

  • Ability and experience in collecting and interpreting data. Highly competent in usage of excel.

  • Passion for colleague development and improving management capability.

  • Analysis, problem solving, decision making and influencing skills.

  • Ability to establish relationships and demonstrate excellent communication with all levels of the organization including coaching, written communication and presentations, etc.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, work independently with little instruction on day-to-day or assignment work, multi-task, and follow up on projects and issues.

  • Confirmed project and time management skills with ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates personal awareness and desire for continual learning, personal development, as well as being structured, with a positive 'can-do' demeanour.
