To provide leadership for all hospital departments when Administration and Clinical Nurse Managers are not present within the institution. Coordinates all activities in all units, disseminates information, facilitates policy and procedures that will enhance the care of all patients we are asked to serve.

Shift/Work Hours: 7A-7P, 7P-7A, 8A-4P,4P-MN as scheduled. Shifts may be altered in order to meet the needs of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The HOUSE SUPERVISOR is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care services during his/her assigned shift. In the absence of the Administrator and/or designee, the HOUSE SUPERVISOR has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of the Administrator-on-Call. The House Supervisor provides leadership for ALL hospital departments when Administration and Clinical Nurse Managers/Directors are not present within the facility. Coordinates all activities in all units, and disseminates information.The House Supervisor is accountable for the overall administrative and clinical activities of nursing service, RT/EEG and Sleep Disorder Center as well as ALL hospital departments for a particular shift. The House Supervisor must function with minimal supervision and guidance and therefore must exercise sound judgment and initiative in all problem solving activities. He/she must make administrative and clinical decisions that reflect a solid nursing knowledge base of all age patient populations (neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric) as well as adherence to JSH HEALTH Policies and Procedures. In collaboration with Nurse Managers, Directors, Clinical Managers, Team Leaders and charges nurses, supervises all nursing personnel, RT/EEG personnel, Sleep Disorder Center personnel and other hospital employees working on odd shifts. He/she is also responsible for coordinating with the Intake Coordinator and units, the correct placement of both admitted and transfer patients. He/she is to consider the patients' needs for care, care of patients of all ages, as well as the available staff in making decisions about proper placement of patients. The House Supervisor must embrace the Studer Philosophies and Principals; mentoring staff and conducting himself/herself in a professional manner at all times. Accountability is monitored through performance evaluation, goal achievement, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety. The House Supervisor must also perform Service Recovery and address patients, families, visitors, physicians, LIP’s, and staff with kindness, compassion and in a timely manner. Maintain a positive working relationship with team, staff, physicians/LIP and administration. The House Supervisor serves in many roles during the off shifts and is responsible for any and all other assigned duties by the AVP/VP of nursing and or the Admin on Call.

Required Skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Graduate from an approved school of Nursing School, Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Master's Degree preferred.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimal of 2 years of supervisory experience.

Proven strong clinical skills and strong communication skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES

Registered Nurse

Must be licensed by the State of Kentucky or compact state

BLS certification – American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) required, must be current.

ACLS and PALS certification highly encouraged
