Queen's Health System Sterile Processing Technician (Full-Time, 40, Rotating Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs supply processing and distribution functions according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Standing, walking, stooping/bending, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds of force; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: kneeling, carrying weight of 20 pounds up to 40 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulders.
• Occasional: sitting, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground; squatting, twisting body, repetitive arm/hand motions.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Some exposure to extreme hot or cold while in decontam, subjected to noise/vibration from steam gun and sterilizers.
• Frequently exposed to hazardous materials (detergents and antiseptic solutions); works with operating equipment.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Academic background with courses in general and biologic science preferred.
• Successful completion of Central Service Training course preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• One (1) year experience as a SP Aide or comparable work experience.
• Ability to understand procedures relating to sterile techniques and processing, infection control procedures, patient care equipment, supply functions and inventory control procedures.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing.
