Naval Facilities Engineering Command SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Honolulu, Hawaii

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the CONSTRUCTION SAFETY DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. Responsibilities You will serve as a consultant to senior management for construction related safety and occupational health matters throughout the NAVFAC Hawaii AOR. You will coordinate the establishment of written goals and objectives for construction safety and health programs and evaluate their performance. You will coordinate the preparation of cost estimates reflecting funds needed for construction safety and health program for inclusion in the annual budget and reporting costs incurred as required by Navy regulations. You will ensure implementation of the construction safety and health program in compliance with Navy and OSHA directives to protect employees from occupational injuries and illnesses. You will serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert on all aspects of facility planning and design safety. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assessing a variety of broad and complex work problems and communicating clearly with multiple levels to provide activities/commands with reliable solutions and schedules for their completion; 2) Applying knowledge and experience during the planning and design of facilities to prevent potential problems and hazards during operations; 3) Utilizing construction safety standards, methods, practices, techniques, materials, equipment and utility systems to determine compliance with standards and codes to devise hazard control measures applicable to operational facilities; and 4) Preparing reports of inspections and investigations and in the development of written policies and procedures that impact managerial courses of action.
