POSITION SUMMARY
Processes all payments received into the practice management system in accordance with departmental procedures, standards and operational needs. Reviews patient accounts and determines appropriate action needed to correct or adjust payment posting accounts. Resolves patient account denials, rejections and unpaid claims with moderate supervision and guidance. Focuses on reducing discrepancies in patient account and achieving maximum collection from all sources. Creates correspondence for refund letters/requests, as well as appeals and waivers. Works with AR, billers, and others in billing to ensure appropriate posting and resolution. Provides coding/billing feedback to providers and staff. Contacts providers, payors, and staff for clarification of coding/billing and for permission to amend coding in claims as appropriate.
This Full-time, Hybrid position works Mon-Fri 1 day from home and 4 days in office.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Training/Experience
Minimum:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of related work experience (or equivalent of 6 months related work experience + business college degree in a related field)
- One year of alpha and numeric data entry experience
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using MS Word and Excel, with a working knowledge of databases and electronic communications.
- Strong planning and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Associates degree from an accredited education institution in a related field
- 2-3 years of related work experience
- Experience working in a clinical setting, billing or medical office.
- EPIC or electronic billing/EMR system experience.
