Pay range: $37.02/hour - $37.52/hour

Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel is looking for a charismatic service professional to join our team to cover the overnight shift. This position is responsible for keeping equipment and all hotel areas in good repair and regularly maintaining them with minimum downtime to provide a clean, safe, and well-maintained hotel for guests while maintaining regulatory compliance. Performs minor to journeyman level repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to repairing and maintaining all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, ballrooms, function/meeting rooms, kitchens, restaurants, executive offices, back-of-house, roofs, parking, plumbing, air conditioning and, electrical and mechanical rooms. Responds to and complete guest calls in a timely manner.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the physical structure of the facility. Practices various trades to complete job assignments in a professional manner.

  • Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service.

  • Be an independent mechanic, able to analyze problems to get work done quickly including procurement of materials, parts, etc. with degree of quality.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning programs and update records pertaining to these programs.

  • Perform routine house calls & daily round checks as scheduled and other duties as may be assigned.

  • Process and complete all work orders assigned and ensure that work performed complies with all applicable codes, safety, sanitation rules and regulations.

  • Perform routine maintenance on supply fans/ducts and registers, guestroom fan coil units, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, wall covering, carpet, kitchen equipment’s , ice machines, and other areas where assigned.

  • Tools – clean, lubricate, protect and other wise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. Ensure all tools used are returned to shop and secured in proper storage area.

  • Emergencies-to be available for any emergencies and act in an Engineering capacity to protect our guest and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies immediately.

  • Must have high mechanical ability and be willing to learn and take directions.

  • Performs other duties as required to provide the “Can Do” attitude and genuine hospitality.

  • Positive attitude towards our guest and employees.

  • Have a working knowledge of fire alarm/detection/sprinkler system and emergency power (standby generator) system, along with Halon and range hood suppression systems.

  • Energy Conservation-to observe and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. To look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the engineering manager.

  • Perform related duties as assigned by Manager.

  • Maintain compliance with all company and brand policies and procedures.

  • Guest Rooms: plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, cosmetic items, replacing electrical switches and outlets, assisting with high speed internet problems, HVAC problems and programming TV’s.

  • Kitchen Areas: Repair and maintain Kitchen equipment.

  • Public Areas: plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical, HVAC equipment and cosmetic items.

  • Fire alarm/Life safety system: monitor systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems. To have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.

  • Energy Conservation: to observe energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. To look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to Engineering Management.

  • Tools: clean, lubricate, protect and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. To see that all tools used are returned to the shop and secured in proper storage area. To protect and otherwise maintain your assigned tool pouch and its tools at the discretion of the Engineering Management.

  • Emergencies: Be available for any emergencies and act in and engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies.

  • Accident Prevention and Safety: to strive to work in an accident free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guest of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.

  • Records: to read, log, track and interpret reading from meters, gauges and other measuring units. To maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts.

  • Departmental Duties: to clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management. To work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized. To serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel.

  • General: Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner. Maintain communications with supervisors to ensure that all needed materials, tools and supplies are available or on order. Follow up on any items that may be on back order. Keep supervisor updated on assignments. Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested.

  • Conducts room preventative maintenance on all hotel rooms, buildings and equipment.

  • Responsible for swimming pool and spa maintenance.

  • Assists with picking up trash in the parking lot.

  • Assists guests as needed.

  • Assists with security and safety checks for the property through visual checks.

  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in customer service at one location, preferably in a hotel environment.

  • High School Diploma/GED. Associates or 2-year technical degree or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred.

  • Journeyman trade license, preferred with HVAC being most desired.

  • Maintenance Certification in a trade

  • Other trade Certificates

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Pneumatic/Electronic Systems & Controls, Carpentry & Finish Skills, Kitchen Equipment and above average in basic maintenance skills.

  • 5+ years of hands-on facilities experience with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance.

  • 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures

  • 5+ years of combined working experience involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills to perform facilities and/or equipment repairs.

  • 5+ years of working experience involving HVAC and refrigeration skills to perform facilities and equipment repairs and maintenance, in a hotel or similar environment strongly desired
