Queen's Health System Dental Resident in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Receives supervised experience and training at The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) in its comprehensive training programs in dentistry.
• Under the supervision of attending dentists, provides patient care within the scope of their clinical privileges, commensurate with the level of training, and matching their individual level of advancement and competence.
• Promotes and facilitates multi-disciplinary collaboration, cooperation and integration with other QMC programs and services with key physician leaders and service lines.
• Supports The Queen’s Medical Center’s (QMC’s) vision and values to enhance the provision of quality health care and optimize the health status of QHS’ patients, and supports QMC’s mission to fulfill the intent of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai`i.
• Supports the QUMG mission to be the preeminent academic medical group of the Pacific – leading the delivery of high quality, compassionate patient care and continually advancing education and research.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate with a D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited school of dental medicine or dentistry.
• Current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Hawaii. If not licensed, license must be obtained within two (2) months of entrance into the position.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Ability to communicate professional expertise to all levels of the health care team.
