Queen's Health System Buyer - Purchasing QHS (Full-Time, Days) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as a product expert and is responsible for procurement in assigned category/specialty for all entities throughout The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS).

• Responsible for procurement and related activities, including reviewing supply/service/equipment requests as needed, communicating with suppliers, submitting orders, maintaining records in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, managing exceptions and substitutions, and working with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing problems.

• Conducts activities in the best interest of QHS and performs duties in accordance with ethics, regulatory, accrediting and legal requirements and within the policies and procedures of the department and QHS.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. Depending upon area of assignment: continuous sitting, frequent gripping of an object; Depending upon area of assignment: frequent standing, twisting of body, reaching at shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.

• Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, lifting and pushing/pulling weight up to 20 pounds of force; carrying weight up to 10 pounds; reaching above and below shoulder level.

• Operates computer, calculator, typewriter, facsimile, copier, telephone, printer.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field; or four (4) years purchasing experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

EXPERIENCE:

• In addition to the education requirement, three (3) years purchasing experience, preferably in healthcare or in a specialty area.

• Ability to analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.

• Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in purchasing items.

• Excellent problem-solving and research skills.

• Knowledge/familiarity with automated information systems.
