UH Manoa-Education Academic Program Specialist (Private School Leadership) in HONOLULU, Hawaii

Job Summary: The College of Education at University of Hawai?i Manoa (UH) is seeking an Academic Program Specialist to further our commitment to enhance a Private School Leadership graduate program that is committed to serving students, families, and educators of Hawai?i. This position will play a crucial role in supporting Private School Leadership Masters students as they conceptualize, organize, and create Capstone Projects for their degrees.

The Departments of Educational Foundations (EDEF) and Educational Administration (EDEA) are seeking candidates who have experience and expertise in graduate-level writing, and are particularly interested in candidates who have effective feedback skills that promote both learning and equitable approaches to education.

Responsibilities: 1. Support Students Efforts to Complete a Capstone Project:

  • Provide individual and small group guidance and support of approximately six to eight graduate students within the Private School Leadership degree program; assisting them with the graduate-level writing of Capstone Projects (conceptualization, organization, scope, conventions, etc.)
  • Serve as a resource for student inquiries, concerns, and academic challenges, offering solutions and referrals as needed
  • Work within the supervision of a University faculty member to ensure students achievement of graduate-level learning objectives
  • Collaborate with field-based partner advisors to ensure students receive comprehensive support tailored to their individual needs
  • Respond to students questions and written drafts within a reasonable timeframe (generally 48-72 hours for basic questions, and 6-9 days for written drafts)
  • Perform independent activities (maintain and report hours worked, complete required University trainings, etc.)
