DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerk Typist 2, you will be one of the first individuals that our community members will interact with when they seek our help. Your presence and patience are essential to provide a positive impression on behalf of Wayne County Human Services, Drug & Alcohol Commission and the confidential treatment programs and services we provide. This role also performs a wide range of clerical duties which enhance our staff's ability to provide quality services to our community consumers.

In this position, you will interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner both in person and over the phone. From your interactions, you will take accurate messages, appropriately route calls, maintain electronic calendars, and coordinate appointments for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) program and Case Management Unit.

You will also gain and share basic operational understanding of Wayne County DUI Program and direct walk-ins to the appropriate staff. Other responsibilities include providing data entry and other clerical support for this program, along with collecting fees from DUI Offenders for Alcohol Highway Safety Class and Court Report Network Evaluations. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time (Limited Term) position (37.5 hours per week for approximately six to eight weeks, June 2024 to August 2024). Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch and will vary to include irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. This position includes travel in and out of the county for meetings. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
