GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to assist in developing and implementing policies or programs meant to promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance. This position is eligible for our flexible hybrid work schedule out of one of our Pennsylvania offices.  Stand out candidates outside of Pennsylvania will be considered. Job Duties:

  • On-site observation of activities from a Health & Safety perspective.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization, on-site or office setting.
  • Ensure that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.
  • Purchase and distribute personal protective equipment or other related supplies.
  • Monitor known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels.
  • Coordinate inspection of project sites, facilities, vehicles, or equipment.
  • May develop and communicate facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans.
  • Implement changes to increase safety.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar from an accredited college/university
  • Field experience in construction or engineering- required (5+ years).
  • Knowledge in Third-Party Safety Administrators such as ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, etc.
  • Experience with driving and fleet vehicle safety.
  • Experience with training and public speaking- required.
  • Experience in office and field conducting audits- required.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) -- desired, or in pursuit of achieving certification.
  • OSHA 10/30 Construction, CPR/AED, and First Aid Training required (or complete within 1 year of hire).
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision. Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

Qualifications

Education Bachelors of Other (required)

Experience 5 years: Field experience in construction or engineering. (required)
