Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York’s iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s – and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held.
Our Hollywood House (HWD), which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA’s most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world’s first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy.
Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community.
The Role
The Director of Event Operations at NeueHouse is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event production across Hollywood, Bradbury, and Venice Beach (for large-scale events as needed). This position focuses on the strategic oversight and direction of management, ensuring that service and support staff adhere to established processes. The Director plays a critical role in the seamless execution of private events, membership events, and programming events, maintaining high standards of quality, service, and efficiency. The Director will also bring expertise in off-premise catering operations, ensuring that external events meet the same standards of service and execution as in-house events.
Requirements
Event Production and Operations:
Oversee the full event production lifecycle, from planning to execution, ensuring the highest standards of delivery.
Direct team (e.g., Producers, Captains, Leads, and Event Porters) in the delegation and supervision of service and support staff, ensuring they maintain adherence to established processes and high service standards.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes for event execution, ensuring all teams are aligned and follow best practices.
Ensure that production teams, service staff and support staff are properly trained, managed, and held accountable for their roles in event execution.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of food and beverage offerings to clients and staff, ensuring effective communication and alignment with service standards.
Lead pre-shift meetings per event, ensuring roles are assigned effectively and staff are briefed on event details.
Collaborate with Sales and Production Management teams to define staffing and rental needs, coordinating with management to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Oversee the coordination of rentals, ensuring best-cost solutions and alternative bids when necessary.
Engage and manage relationships with external event staffing companies when necessary, ensuring outsourced staff are trained and aligned with company expectations.
Work closely with the culinary team, ensuring staff are knowledgeable about menu offerings, including ingredients and potential allergens. Communicate client-specific requests and updates to the culinary team.
Address immediate issues or concerns during events with the appropriate management teams, including A/V and Food and Beverage.
Team Leadership & HR:
Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for middle management and service staff, fostering accountability and high performance throughout the team.
Establish and monitor performance metrics (KPIs) for management, ensuring operational alignment and team efficiency.
Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for both production management and event staff, ensuring readiness to meet operational demands.
Drive the continuous improvement of event production processes, ensuring consistency in execution and service quality.
Financial Oversight:
Oversee the financial performance of events, providing regular updates on revenue, profit margins, and costs to senior leadership.
Ensure cost-effective delivery of events, working closely with Sales and Events teams to optimize financial performance and achieve budget goals.
Accurately cost outsourced services, rentals, and food and beverage offerings, securing competitive bids to align with budget targets.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Develop, Uphold and enforce service standards and presentation guidelines across all events, ensuring alignment with NeueHouse’s brand and ethos.
Serve as the key liaison between the events team and other internal stakeholders, ensuring all teams are aligned and event goals are met.
Provide detailed post-event recaps to Sales, Food & Beverage, and other relevant teams, identifying areas of success and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Participate with clients in ideation, collaborating with AV and other, to support client to generate successful concepts when required.
Minimum of 5+ years of event operations experience.
Utilize experience and event knowledge to help develop plans for event executions with clients when required.
Review and edit project and event proposals from other team members when required
Negotiate and oversee contracts with clients & third-party vendors.
An in depth understanding of off premise catering operations.
Liase with clients on all pre-production support and event needs
Collect and submit COIs and event notices to building
Manage event captain schedule
Manage Events Coordinator and Events Captain to ensure all pre-production and day of needs are executed seamlessly
Communicate event details/changes with all internal departments (F&B, Facilities, Operations)
Work in collaboration with the Executive Chef, design team, and marketing team to develop custom offerings when required
Analyze event successes, always working to better our offering at NeueHouse
Support Events Director with initial leads, client walkthroughs as needed
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

The anticipated salary for this position is $125,000 - $135,000 a year. NeueHouse is committed to equitable and competitive compensation and benefits packages for our team members and will consider many factors when extending offers of employment.
