POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides Sustaining Engineering support to all areas of operations, which may include mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, or electronic technical duties and problem solving . Primary responsibility includes technical support of released products and processes. This may be design or process changes to improve manufacturability, increase first pass yields, reduce costs, reduce inventories etc. Projects may be in response to customer quality issues, vendor suggestions or internal improvement efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide support of released products for design changes, quality improvements, customer issues (root cause and corrective actions) and cost reductions. Implement performance, cost, quality and consistency improvements in existing products and processes.

  2. Identify potential product weakness and update product design to better meet customer needs.

  3. Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.

  4. Analyze, develop, and recommend design approaches required to meet production requirements and make product improvements.

  5. Provide producibility input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification.

  6. Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

  7. Participate in vendor selection, evaluation, audit, and approval.

  8. Assist in resolving design and supplier issues.

  9. Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyze, substantiate, and propose changes in methods and materials with cost and quality impact.

  10. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  11. Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent)

  12. 1+ years relevant experience in Sustaining Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferable but not required

  13. Experience with electro-mechanical design and components

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  14. Must be able to drive small design engineering projects to completion with minimal supervision within a specified time schedule.

  15. Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.

  16. Strong documentation and technical writing skills required.

  17. Strong interpersonal and team building skills needed.

  18. Strong problem-solving skills required. Ability to drive problem solving strategies for complex problems involving cross functional teams required. Six Sigma experience a plus.

  19. Background and understanding of ISO 9001/13485 preferred but not required.

  20. Background in valve manufacturing preferred but not required.
