Summary:
This position will provide support to the materials, warehouse, and production teams by transporting raw materials, production equipment, and shipping supplies within our LGESMI properly, and between local warehouses. Reports directly to the Materials Management Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Safely transport raw materials, production equipment, and shipping supplies between LGEMSI warehouses and production facilities
Perform pre-trip, post-trip checks daily
Report any maintenance problems to Supervisor for follow-up
Follow all transportation safety guidelines, rules, and regulations in accordance to company policy, and all local and federal laws
Check in with dispatch and dock personnel before and after pickups and deliveries using a handheld radio
Fill in delivery and pick up logs with accurate, detailed information
Ensure all training and certifications are up to date to maintain CDL
Comply with all local, state and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service
Complete and maintain DOT logs when applicable
Ensure the safety of all team members by following proper processes for docking, loading, unloading, and undocking
Load and unload trucks using a forklift, as needed
Assist with process definition and writing of work instructions for related roles
Follow established work instructions
Adhere to safety requirements at all times, including the use of proper PPE
Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements
Participate in, and successfully complete, any and all training requirements
Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required
Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree desired or equivalent, relevant experience
CDL-A required (transporting trailers over 10,000 lbs.)
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience operating commercial trucks
Materials/Warehouse experience
Skills:
MS Office Suite
Excellent organization and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional/Positive Attitude
Basic math skills are required
Ability to read and interpret graphs and measurements
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals with or without the use of a calculator
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours
