Summary:
Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family. Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Product Engineers are responsible to coordinate all aspects of APQP.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. *
Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
Prepares quotations for materials, labor, tooling and equipment to support new product and prototypes as required utilizing the principles of concurrent engineering.
Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, raining team members, working with external customers and evaluating results.
Responsible for the development of engineering masters/manufacturing instructions, testing and evaluation.
Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and provides cost justification for various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
Leads product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
Leads APQP activities to include PPAP process, GD&T interpretation and PFMEA.
Supports supplier development by communicating expectations and monitoring performance based on established quality standards.
Provides guidance and mentorship as needed within Engineering Department.
