WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Senior Carbon Consultant role, based in Vietnam, reports to the Partner Responsibility Manager in Vietnam with a dotted line to the Principal of Climate & Energy Deployment in Singapore. This position is critical for supporting Nike's Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in achieving sustainability goals by providing technical expertise, enabling renewable energy adoption, enhancing energy efficiency, and ensuring accurate emissions reporting. The consultant liaises with factories to plan, contract, and implement renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, both electrical and thermal, aligning with Nike's climate strategy.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role implements Nike’s Carbon & Energy programs in Vietnam, ensuring energy management systems are in place in Nike’s finished goods and materials factories. It involves analyzing factory reported energy data, creating energy-saving briefs, building manufacturing partners technical capability, and supporting partners in planning and executing renewable energy and efficiency projects, aligning with Nike’s climate strategies. You need to have excellent communication skills in Vietnamese and in English, proven ability to work cross-functionally, and the ability to influence across different cultures and leadership levels. Your success will depend on your ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and then drive to rigorous, well-communicated deliverables.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, manufacturing environment preferably.
Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering from an Accredited University.
Experience in energy management systems implementation, such as ISO 50001.
Hands-on experience in renewable energy technologies, including rooftop solar, biomass, and clean fuels; and conversant with relevant regulations in Vietnam.
Understanding of corporate power purchase agreements and off-site renewable energy procurement structures strongly preferred.
Experience implementing energy/sustainability programs, including consulting skills, factory engagement expertise, and business case development.
Lead and build capabilities in PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) problem solving.
Ability to guide factories and track their performance in implementing energy efficiency, energy management, and renewable energy initiatives.
Experience working in cross functional environment.
Broad understanding in leading change utilizing lean principles.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (Vietnamese and English)
Must be a team player and have sound judgment and analytical abilities.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
The role involves collecting energy data at Nike supplier factories, developing energy-saving strategies, and ensuring renewable energy technologies are viable. It also includes monitoring policies, driving carbon reduction, and enhancing sustainability through training and best-practice sharing.
Your role will require to visit Nike’s contracted supplier factories and collect relevant technical data on energy consuming equipment including dye tanks, boilers, motors, air compressors, lighting, etc.
You will develop energy savings technical briefs for suppliers based on Nike operational data toolsets.
You will conduct performance analysis of the energy investments.
As part of the role, you will ensure that potential new renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies are technically suitable and commercially viable for their intended application at factories.
You will monitor, interpret, and apply current and emerging, energy policies and regulations, towards furthering energy and renewable energy initiatives at Nike suppliers’ factories.
Additionally, you will drive factory performance to achieve carbon reduction and climate targets by monitoring Key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring compliance as well as elevate capabilities through targeted training programs and collaborative best-practice sharing events, fostering a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement.
