WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a Manager of Chemical Engineering in the Nike Footwear Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering team, you are expected to manage a group of Senior Chemical Engineers who are part of a global team committed to delivering excellence to our product teams and to consumers every day. This role reports to the local Senior Manager of Chemical Engineering. You will work closely with teams across the enterprise and around the world – Product Creation, Nike Explore Team (NXT), Materials Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sustainability, Manufacturing & Engineering, our Footwear and Chemical vendors.

You will be accountable for not only product quality, craftmanship, and efficiency but also unleashing potential of your direct reports and teammates towards required competencies, working with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure engineering best practices are implemented at our factories, utilizing chemical and process engineering knowledge to apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Manager, Chemical Engineering to join the Nike Footwear Supply Chain Manufacturing & Engineering Team in Vietnam to help revolutionize the world’s best athletic footwear for the world’s best athletes*. You will leverage knowledge and experience to tackle critical technical problems in Footwear Product Development and Manufacturing to ensure delivery of world class quality products. Expectations include leading global programs and partnering with various stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure timely delivery of key programs against Nike’s strategic priorities. The candidate should be capable of managing an effective teamwork with growth mindset, adhering to the company culture and standards, solving a wide range of engineering problems in product creation and production with possible solutions using standard analysis procedures while receiving a minimum level of guidance and direction.

  • Minimum 5 years of experiences in Engineering industry, footwear experiences preferably.

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or other related sub-specialty fields.

  • Proven abilities to not only work with cross cultural/functional teams but also manage a high-performance team working on projects with data analysis tools through openness and honesty and have the courage to make tough calls when needed.

  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.

  • Willingness to travel internationally and commute locally to manufacturing facilities.

  • The ability to lift 10KG pertains to the capacity for handling, testing, and auditing within the manufacturing process, as well as the capability to hold and transport samples such as rubber materials and chemical bags.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • In this role, you will lead and manage a team of Senior Chemical Engineers to drive strategic chemical projects aligned with the global manufacturing and engineering initiatives, acting as functional expert in chemical processing areas.

  • You will be accountable for ensuring progress against Nike’s strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing best practices and quality standards.

  • You will demonstrate expertise not only in people management but also data analysis, solving complex engineering problems and recommending appropriate corrective actions.

  • You will support the elevation of manufacturing partner capabilities and provide guidance in new facility ramp-ups, ensuring consistent quality.

  • You will work with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure best practices are implemented at manufacturing locations.

  • You will utilize Chemical and Process Engineering knowledge and apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes.

  • You will perform product and process development engineering work in one or more general engineering functions, including Chemical, Material, Innovation and Mechanical.

  • You will develop expertise in bottom-making technology to identify and resolve potential manufacturing issues in development stage.
