SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Clinical Specialist is responsible for collaborating with the Parent Educator/Lead Parent Educator and CWS on the implementation of program services, linking the assessment, design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions with the purpose of achieving successful case outcome. Flexible provision of services that accommodate the families' needs and adjust schedules to be available evenings and weekends. Under the supervisor's directive may be required to respond to on-call crisis response with 24/7 availability.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Masters' Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires knowledge of an advanced type.
Along with 1-4 years of post-masters experience.
EXPERIENCE
Direct use of a variety of family therapies
Individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques
Marital therapy
Therapeutic interventions targeting school behavior and academic performance
Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the participant's natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e. family, peer, school, and
neighborhood)
Provision of group and individual clinical supervision
Preferred Knowledge
Family systems theory and application
Social ecological theory and application
Behavioral therapies theory and application
Cognitive-behavioral therapy theory and application
Pragmatic family therapies theory and application
Child development research and it's application in treatment
Social skills assessment and intervention
Demonstrated ability in experience and education in relevant aspects of clinical practice

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Good verbal and written skill in therapeutic assessment and treatment, interviewing, recording and letter writing. Also able to assess family dynamics, strengths and weaknesses to determine most appropiate approaches and interventions. home[CT1] . Ability to work with challenging families to improve their parenting skills. Clinical Specialist I must also support the commitment to preserving a participant's connection with their family of origin and reunification with biological family.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Under the supervisor's directive may be required to respond to on-call crisis response with 24/7 availability.
- Conducts assessment including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, developing an analysis of the problem behaviors within the ecological context, utilizing a broad variety of culturally sensitive diagnostic modalities and techniques appropriately and selectively.
- Engages participant and/or primary caregiver to the extent possible in developing an active, culturally sensitive, change oriented treatment plan. Plans are based on the assessment. They have measurable objectives. Plans are reviewed at specified intervals with the participant(s), and amended as needed to meet participant and program goals.
- Collaborates with all relevant systems and key participants to ensure their engagement and cooperation throughout treatment or service intervention.
- Provides counseling, education, and training, and service interventions following the Family Service Plan, using program compatible interventions based on best practice research. Identifies any unusual psycho-social problems and barriers to meeting treatment objectives and addresses these accordingly.
- Ensures all accreditation and affiliation requirements are met.
- Required to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, to meet participant needs.
- Performs administrative tasks related to caseload, progress notes, service plans, mileage, correspondence and reporting in a timely, concise manner following organization, funder and accreditation standards.
- Provides services in a home based setting, in participant's communities, to include on/off program site activities and groups.
- Ensures participant confidentiality at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
