How will you make an impact? The Operations Engineer Supervisor is member of the Operations Engineering team at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Hillsboro, Oregon. Our factory produces low-volume, high complexity electron microscopy products for semiconductor designers and manufacturers to use in the creation and improvement of their products and manufacturing processes. The team is responsible for smooth introduction of new EM products into the factory and field as well as the ongoing improvement of products and the processes used to manufacture and service them.
Performance Management – annual goal setting & reviews.
Employee Development – individual development plans, providing mentorship and training.
Staffing – assist department manager in identifying required talent for the team, interviews and selection.
Coordinate assigned projects for obsolescence, PPI and continuous improvement.
Ensure manufacturing issues are assigned and resolved in a timely manner.
Inter-department Support – point of contact for external department concerns and issues.
Define and drive safety initiatives, support CAPA and other safety concerns.
Individual Contributor – the Supervisor will also perform job duties of an Operations Engineer III.
Education
University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or a combination of technical education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
Experience
3+ years’ experience as an Operations Engineer, Process Engineer or similar discipline highly desirable.
Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
Understanding or working knowledge of other business functions (Materials, Financial, Sales, Engineering and Human Resources) in addition to manufacturing and quality.
Experience leading technical projects and management of multi-functional projects.
Experience crafting technical documentation, procedures, and engineering reports.
Experience in analysis of data and basic experimental methods, test protocols, and procedures.
Experience with Practical Process Improvements (PPI) including cost reduction by workflow or design improvements.
Experience in reviewing data and driving improvements that affect quality.
Experience in Failure Analysis and Solving Problems.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Collaboration and teamwork in multi-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Complete projects and tasks with minimal direction.
