The Highland County Veterans Service Commission Intake Counselor - Veterans Service Officer in Hillsboro, Ohio
The Highland County Veterans Service Commission is seeking candidates for the position of Intake Counselor/Veterans Service Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intake counselor will be responsible for greeting incoming clients, answering phones, completing Emergency Financial Assistance applications, and scheduling transportation. This individual will also train as a future VSO who will be responsible for assisting Veterans with applications for Federal, State and Local benefits, and taking part in routine Outreach Events. The VSO must be able to provide high quality care and confidentiality towards respect of any and all Veterans that utilize the Highland County Veterans Service Office and personnel within this diverse workplace environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFCIATIONS:
- S. Military Veteran's classification as defined by the Ohio Revised Code Title 59 with honorable discharges for all periods served
- Certified with the Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS), if not, will be required to attain ODVS certification within 12 months (failure to do so will result in termination)
- Ability to work individually in a team-focused environment
- Communication skills in both oral and written capacities
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Valid Ohio Driver's License [photocopy of Driver's License will be made upon submitting application]
- CORSA approval through the County of Highland, Ohio
- Knowledge of Veterans benefits/assistance and organizations that provide these programs (preferred)
- All applicants are subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen upon hiring.
SALARY: Negotiable based on experience
