BAE Systems Technical Project Manager in Hill AFB, Utah

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Acquisition Project Manager for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of Sentinel, the nation s next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).

This project manager will be accountable to the Support Systems Division lead for all tasks assigned for Sentinel Support Equipment and Major Maintenance Vehicles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as an Acquisition Project Manager and work with a highly skilled team providing mission-critical acquisition project management, reporting, and program integration functions on behalf of the Sentinel System Program Office.

  • Serve as an acquisition subject matter expert, key program advisor, and a focal point for the assessment and reporting of Sentinel program status, including technical performance, contract performance, enterprise integrated master schedule health, and risks, issues, and opportunities.

  • Operate in an organizational culture that develops and challenges employees to achieve high performance in a fast-paced, high-morale workplace using streamlined management policies and procedures.

Why SENTINEL? There is never a dull moment on this strategic effort, a cornerstone for the nation s security! The Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Program will completely replace the aging Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM, an undertaking not performed in over 50 years. This program is considered a mega-project and one of the most complex in the history of the Department of Defense. The new ICBM weapon system acquisition effort brings with it the newest digital engineering tools and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to meet existing warfighter requirements, while having the adaptability and flexibility to affordably address changing technology and threat environments through 2075. As part of the U.S. Air Force's Integration Support Contract (ISC), BAE Systems provides advisory and assistance services in the areas of engineering, logistics, management, scientific analysis, and other subject matter expertise to augment and optimize management of the Sentinel ICBM Prime Contractor.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in project/program management (5 years with advanced degree)

  • Experience on an Acquisition Category (ACAT) I level program or similar

  • Demonstrated comfort and capabilities working under stressful conditions, aggressive schedules, variable workloads, and shifting priorities

  • Risk management experience; demonstrated management experience evaluating and mitigating risk at the program or enterprise level

  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in managing program cost, schedule, and/or performance

  • Must have a current Secret security clearance or higher (adjudicated within the past 6 years) and be eligible to obtain and maintain all required Special Program accesses

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience at a System Program Office (or higher-level staff) executing/overseeing program(s) in the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) or similar acquisition program phase

  • Understanding of integration across multiple areas of an ACAT I level program

  • Understanding of Control Account Management responsibilities

  • Understanding of Earned Value Management

  • Exceptional customer engagement, writing, and communication skills

  • Experience creating presentation content for executive level meetings and conducting senior level meetings

  • Understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE) acquisition and program management processes

  • Strategic thinker and innovator with continuous improvement mindset

  • Active Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • ICBM weapon system and/or program support experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $91980 - $156330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
