In this position as a Staff Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, integration and test of the GN&C subsystem for the Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will work with the GN&C team along with other discipline subsystem engineers in a collaborate team environment through the system design, integration and test phases culminating with mission success.

For this position, you WILL need to have GN&C control system design, analysis and test experience for Launch Vehicles, given the characteristics of this space vehicle. Having been through the entire life cycle of a space program from Requirements through Integration & Test and Verification is a plus.

This position requires being a U.S. Citizen.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong experience in the design, development and test of "Launch Vehicle Controllers" given the characteristics of this vehicle

• Experience with spacecraft dynamics, spacecraft environments, GN&C sensors/actuators, and control system design/analysis with the willingness to mentor junior engineers

• Experience or academic background in various control methods such as optimal control, linear/non-linear controls, advanced feedback control systems, state estimation and filtering

• Experience with MATLAB/SIMULINK and C++

• Experience with design and development of algorithms for GN&C spaceflight systems

• A US Citizenship is required for this position

Desired Skills:

• Experience using Matlab/Simulink to autocode real-time embedded flight software

• Experience in controls system design for launch vehicle ascent. Specific experience in performing stability and performance assessments in the presence of low frequency flexible modes and fluid slosh

• Direct working experience interacting with NASA

• Experience in the entire life cycle of a spacecraft program spanning proposal development through mission operations

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated good communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to management

• Experience in Python

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $131,200 - $247,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $114,100 - $218,600 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
