HIGHLAND CITY City Engineer or Public Works Director/City Engineer in HIGHLAND, Utah
City Engineer Job Posting:
Do you have a passion for shaping thriving communities and a proven track record in civil engineering? The City of Highland City is seeking a qualified and experienced leader to fill one of two key positions within our Public Works Department:
- City Engineer (Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 annually)
- Public Works Director/City Engineer (Salary Range: $125,000 - $156,000 annually)
In either role, you will play a pivotal role in leading the continued growth and development of our city's infrastructure. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic vision and direction for all engineering activities within the Public Works Department.
- Overseeing a team of engineers and public works professionals (Public Works Director role only)
- Supervising the Staff Engineer, acting as a mentor and guide for their professional development (City Engineer role)
- Developing and managing the Public Works Department budget.
- Overseeing the design, review, and approval of construction plans for public works projects.
- Fostering strong collaborative relationships with other city departments, elected officials, and the community.
- Identifying and securing grant funding to support public works initiatives.
- Ensuring the Public Works Department operates in strict compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and representing the City in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on municipal infrastructure projects (experience in a similar role is a plus for the Public Works Director position).
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience (required for Public Works Director, preferred for City Engineer).
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) licensed with the State of Utah.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills (essential for Public Works Director, important for City Engineer).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of engineering software and design tools.
Experience with grant writing and project management is a significant advantage.
