We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. As an Engine/Transmission Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding various engines and transmission for a variety of vehicles. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Engine/transmission diagnosis, tear down, and parts cleaning
- Documentation of engine/transmission components condition and fitment upon initial tear down and final assembly
- Properly identify, label, and install respective rotating assembly components to achieve ideal static balancing
- Measure components to check clearances and fitments according to standard rebuild guidelines
- File, size or recondition replacement components wherever necessary, including: Piston rings, Connecting Rods, Cylinder Heads, Springs, etc.
- Final assembly of completed engine/transmission work, checking all necessary valves, rings, pistons, bearing, etc.
- Ability to do full timing on engines following all correct specifications.
- Fabrication work such as welding, drilling, tapping, and inserting heli-coils
- Installation of reconditioned or replacement parts
- Preventative maintenance and cleaning on machines utilized
- Communicate with management about the condition of a part or component that requires immediate assessment
Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience mechanically rebuilding automobile engines & transmission
- Proficient in utilizing precision measuring equipment including bore gauges, micrometers, snap gauges, "Joe" blocks for calibrating, and more
- Proficient in understanding necessary fitment tolerances between bearings, pistons, cylinder sleeves, valve seat inserts, and understanding static and dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies
- Proficient with general fabrication tools and power equipment: Includes sanders, grinders, saws, files, drills, etc.
- Ability to lift from 10-50lbs
- Ability to utilize moving equipment to transport oversized components
- Ability to operate engine/transmission cleaning equipment
- Ability to document or notify management of irregular actions taken to perform an operation
- Excellent work ethic and craftsmanship paired with care and caution as to not damage any valuable parts
- Focus and commitment to your assigned workload, with determination to produce your finest work every day
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
