Scope of Position:

  • Developing test methodologies and test systems

  • Applying state-of-the art experimental and theoretical skills to technical problems

  • Developing equipment capability in the field of fiber optics and optical metrology

  • Functioning as a key individual expert

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, automate, and maintain optical systems for active and passive fiber optic products

  • Develop and implement software for measurement systems

  • Collaborate with technology team, develop an appropriate measurement method for future fiber optic products

  • Develop calibration test procedures and establish measurement uncertainty for test equipment/systems

  • Develop tools for data analysis

  • Document test methodologies and test results

  • Develop and implement methodologies to optimize measurement performance

  • Coach and certify lab technicians

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Optics, Opto-electronics, Physics, Photonics

  • Background in fiber optics, optics, or optical engineering

  • Understanding of optical metrology

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data science

  • Problem solving skills

  • Written/verbal communication skills - intermediate and preferably advanced level of English language

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree with 1 year experience in the optics or fiber optics industry

  • Master of Science or Engineering degree with concentration in fiber optics/optical communication/Physics/Electrical Engineering

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess):

  • Understanding of optical metrology in fiber optics • Automation skills in LabVIEW or Python

  • Data analysis skills in Python or any similar programing language

  • Experience in LabVIEW programming

  • Familiarity with relevant industrial standards such as Telcordia, ISO and IEC Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):

  • Organizational and planning skills

  • Project management skills

  • Teamwork and Collaboration Skills

The range for this position is $93,318.00 - $128,313.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
