SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Penn State Health has an opportunity for a qualified Nurse Practitioner to join the Neuro-Critical Care team at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. This position will be providing inpatient coverage in the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit managing the care of critically ill neurosurgical or neurological patients. The NP will provide care in collaboration with the neuro-critical care team, neurology, and neurosurgery. The NCCU offers a supportive and dynamic work environment that is collaborative and fosters autonomy. The individual will join a team of 3 physicians and 8 APPs. The NP provides round the clock coverage and will work a varied schedule of days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on unit call requirements. The individual will be enjoy flexibility in scheduling and opportunities for professional growth. Prior experience working in neuroscience is encouraged but not required. An Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse practitioner certification is required for this position. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicable candidate will meet scenario A or B:

Either (A) Master's Degree in a Critical Care or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) required and three (3) critical care experience as a staff nurse required

Currently licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.

National certification as an advanced practice nurse required.

Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification.

Acute critical care certification focus is preferred.
