Description
SAIC’s National Intelligence Community (NIC) Business Unit, USG Mission, and Information Technology Division, provides solutions and services supporting digital modernization programs in areas such as systems engineering, multi-cloud computing, cybersecurity, data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, quantum computing, application development, DevSecOps, cloud network operations, and secure communications.
We are seeking multiple Systems Administrators to join our National Intelligence Program that provides analytic and software capabilities to include data visualization tools, language translation, data ingestions, extraction, and modeling.
These positions can be in Herndon, VA, McLean, VA or Chantilly, VA and require an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in database management and operations, with a focus on ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of databases integral to data visualization tools, language translation, data ingestion, extraction, and modeling. You will play a key role in managing and improving our databases to support our mission-critical applications and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database environment.
Conduct thorough performance tuning of database systems to ensure optimal performance in an environment that includes high volume data ingestion, query processing, and transaction management.
Oversee the installation, configuration, upgrade, and migration of database instances, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
Manage, monitor, and maintain data replication, backup, and recovery processes.
Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and management tools, ensuring that data services are at the cutting edge and can deliver exceptional analytics capabilities.
Coordinate with data architects and software developers to design and implement schema, database objects, data models, and database services for complex business applications.
Provide database support for software development and deployment, including the integration of databases with data visualization and language translation tools.
Implement and maintain database security controls and conduct vulnerability assessments to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Assist in data migration projects, including data mapping, extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Document the operational procedures and system architecture of the database environment for reference and auditing purposes.
Qualifications
Active TS/SCI with Poly is required .
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a focus on database administration or data services.
Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably within an environment that includes analytics and software development support.
Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, including relational and non-relational databases.
Hands-on experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, or Oracle.
Familiarity with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
Proficiency in implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Solid grasp of data privacy laws and best practices in database security.
Experience with cloud-based database management (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think algorithmically.
Experience in Agile development environments.
Desired Skills:
Certifications relevant to database management and data services (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Certification).
Familiarity with data visualization tools and their data requirements.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
