This role is similar to a liaison or referent between the customer's requirements manager team and mission partners that involves network engineering and network transport engineering. The individual in this role reviews all incoming requirements for feasibility of implementation on existing network infrastructure. The position will advise potential customers as to the suitability of different options for addressing their network ideas as well as make recommendations to government oversight regarding alternative courses of action such as cost options for desired technologies compared to performance. Knowledge of the various member agencies of the IC, their mission and unique needs is useful.
The selected candidate uses network management applications to answer questions concerning what is actually deployed in the network, analysis of existing utilization to assess likely impact to user experience or application performance. Being able to work with our workflow application Service Now, network analyzer, and performance tool such as NetIM are required.
The liaison would work with other divisions to coordinate work when networks are part of a larger system. The liaison needs to understand the OSI model layers 1 through 3. Working familiarity with the capabilities of Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and high availability network techniques (BGP, interior gateway routing protocols, port channeling).
Desired background in application development, as there are cases where mission partners present applications they desire to implement on existing network infrastructure but lack clear ideas of what the network needs to do to support the new applications. The liaison would be expected to have an in depth conversation with systems developers to meet the requirement or find alternatives.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineers to join our dynamic team. These Network Engineers must have 16 years of experience in related fields and a Bachelors Degree. Advanced degrees can be substituted in lieu of years of experience: 14 Years with Masters degree or 11 Years with PhD.
Candidates must possess experience in each of the following skillsets:
CCNA or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of the OSI model layers 1 through 3
Understanding of 802.1q VLAN tagging
Understanding the different media types, when to use which such as RJ-45, MMF, SMF
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Knowledge of the various members of the IC
Viewed as expert in the field outside of the corporation
Work independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with long-range goals and objectives
Assist the customer with decisions that affect the financial, employee or public relations posture of the organization
Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning or spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs
Applies and/or develops highly advanced concepts, techniques and standards

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
