Amazon Manager, ADC & Non-Standard Capacity Planning, Amazon Dedicated Cloud/Non-Standard Infrastructure Delivery Team in Herndon, Virginia

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

This is a Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM)-level role responsible for leading government region and non-standard infrastructure long-range strategy and supply planning initiatives. With a foot in both new region and region scaling planning initiatives, you will work with Global Program Leads and local supply solutions and capacity scaling teams around the world to develop and implement a robust strategy and capacity scaling plan to meet the infrastructure capacity needs of multiple AWS services.

The ADC-NS Planning Team supports AWS by driving long-range supply and capacity delivery planning to continue expanding AWS’s data center capacity worldwide. A successful candidate will be a mid-career professional with strong strategy and planning experience within large and very large programs, as well as demonstrated competency in driving professional growth and performance improvements in their direct reports. They will be a particularly strong communicator, both written and verbally, with demonstrated strong judgment, relationship building skills, emotional intelligence, the ability to lead by influence, problem solving talent, and team leadership experience. Most importantly, they will have the tenacity to thrive and succeed in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment brimming with competing priorities.

Within this role, a successful Candidate will lead a geographically dispersed team of TIPMs, Program Managers, and Business Analysts to manage the capacity planning program of record (0 -13 years) for multiple Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions; lead infrastructure supply planning for non-standard programs; manage the long- and short-range strategy and execution of a global archival storage hardware deployment program; and lead development and maintenance of data resources and tools essential for effective and efficient business operations in the ADC-NS space. You will work across the entire AWS Organization to align on both short- and long-range demand plans for data center capacity and the infrastructure response through the acquisition of space and power. You will oversee the forecasting process which establishes capacity plans and work across AWS to manage strategic execution. You will lead modeling and scenario analysis efforts and make data-driven recommendations that inform capacity and capital expenditure decisions. You will partner with key stakeholders to bridge changes in demand, address short- and long-term capacity constraints, and write supporting documentation for capital expenditures. You will drive accountability across the infrastructure organization and develop mechanisms to monitor and escalate against the health of the infrastructure business to executive leadership.

Successful candidates will be comfortable and confident in their ability to build and manage cross-functional matrixed teams, establish trust with a variety of internal customers and stakeholders, eliminate non-value-add activities, design practical solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to meet competing needs. They will also have experience managing fast-paced technical project teams; developing, monitoring, and reporting project/program health metrics at the VP-level; developing and implementing change management plans; and driving position readiness improvement. Most importantly, the Candidate will be able to act independently, using strong judgement to drive timely decision-making and deliver high-quality results.

Up to 15% domestic and international travel may be necessary to support AWS non-standard infrastructure planning and scaling efforts.
