Position Overview

  • This recruitment is limited to retired individuals with an active NV POST II Certification or higher who are currently NV PERS retirees.

The City of Henderson is excited to announce a recruitment for the position of Critical Labor Shortage Municipal Court Marshal.

Under general supervision, performs law enforcement functions associated with the operations of the City of Henderson Municipal Court to include the protection of individuals accessing the Court, building perimeter protection/security, courtroom security/functions, and field services; and performs related duties as required.

Position Information:

  • Retirees will be hired in the full-time Municipal Court Marshal classification

  • Assignment length: Critical Labor designation will expire September 30, 2026

  • Assignment will be determined at the sole discretion of the Chief Municipal Court Marshal

  • Marshals will be placed at the midpoint of the range and will be eligible for the annual general increase (no pay for performance increase will be given)

  • Employees hired under a Critical Labor Shortage designation will receive a comprehensive benefit package

  • Must successfully complete any required re-hire training within the timeframe as determined by the department

Minimum Qualifications

In order to be considered for the Critical Labor Shortage Municipal Court Marshal position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have retired in the Nevada PERS system and have received their first Nevada PERS retirement benefit payment at the time of rehire

  • Must possess current/active Nevada POST Category II certification or higher


Minimum Qualifications for Municipal Court Marshal:

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent

  • Must possess a current Nevada Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Category II certificate at the time of appointment, Category I certificate is preferred

  • Desirable: One (1) year of experience as a full-time commissioned law enforcement officer, excluding Law Enforcement Academy Training time

  • According to NAC 289.110: A person may not be appointed to perform duties of a peace officer if he or she has: been convicted of a felony in this state or of any offense which would be a felony if committed in this State; been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude or the unlawful use, sale or possession of a controlled substance; or a documented history of physical violence

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license as defined by NRS 483

  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.

  • Must possess and maintain Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certifications

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on dates yet to be determined. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on dates that will be determined.

Selection Process

WORK WEEK

  • Four-day, 10-hour workday, 40-hour work week
