Helena College is seeking qualified applicants who wish to become part of a dynamic and creative team for a full-time position as a Business Instructor to begin August 2025. Helena College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track, Business Instructor on the Donaldson Campus for the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning August 2025. The Business and Accounting program at Helena College houses both the Business and Accounting degrees and has a well-established reputation for providing quality education, preparing graduates for employment within their chosen field or for transfer to continuing educational opportunities. Partnerships and connection to industry partners in the Helena and surrounding communities are crucial to the success of the program. The Business and Accounting program is a fully online/remote academic program, allowing Helena College to better serve students and employers, particularly those in rural areas. All courses within the program are offered in fully online and/or Hyflex formats with an emphasis on student support and community. Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing quality educational experiences and support for all Helena College students, in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of the College. The business instructor serves as a teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning to prepare well-qualified graduates to enter the world of business and/or to continue their education at a 4-year university. The Accounting and Business program is offered in a fully online/Hyflex format so the program can meet the needs of all students, including working adult learners and those in rural communities. The business instructor is expected to maintain a regular, physical presence at Helena College to better foster relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners. It is understood that Helena College operates as a face-to-face campus of the Montana University System, and most business is conducted in person. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities The business instructor position is responsible for teaching 30-32 credits in the academic year, in addition to other instruction-related and college service-related duties. For the business instructor, this typically equates to teaching 5 courses each semester, for a total of 10 courses (30 credits) in an academic year. This position will be responsible for - Instruction of 30-32 credits per academic year, in online, hyflex, and virtual formats. For the business instructor, this typically equates to teaching 5 courses each semester, for a total of 10 courses (30 credits) in an academic year. - Course preparation. - Curriculum development and design, both at the course and program level. - Assessment, both at the course and program level. - Use of a variety of teaching methods to enhance understanding, including lecture, group discussions and activities, case studies, etc. - Collaborate with the full-time and adjunct faculty within the program. - Coordinate and work with the program advisory council. - Participation in necessary institutional functions such as, but not limit d to, college committees, student clubs, student internships, student/faculty recruitment, budget development, program promotion, and collaboration with academic and student affairs. - Professional development/improvement activities, both educational and occupational. Business Courses Taught within the Program - Introduction to Business - Small business entrepreneurship - Marketing - Management - Business Ethics - Legal issues in HR - Human Resource Management - Advertising - Business Finance - Business Law - MIS Foundations for Business - Business Internship Minimum Qualifications - A master?s degree in Business, or another related program. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. - Ability to maintain a regular, physical presence on the Helena College Donaldson campus. Preferred/Desirable Qualifications - Master?s degree in Business. - Prior teaching experience at the college level, two years preferred. - Experience teaching online and using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Moodle, D2L, etc.) and educational technology. - Experience working in the business field. - Connection to the business community in Helena and/or the ability to create strong community relationships for program growth and student opportunities.
