State of Montana Accountant 1 in Helena, Montana

Division Overview: TheMontana Board of Crime Control(MBCC) missionis to proactively contribute to public safety, crime prevention, victim assistance through planning, policy development and coordination of the justice system in partnership with citizens, government, and communities. Job Overview:TheAccountant 1position supports grant processes through maintaining accurate financial records, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and reconciling accounts. The role also includes preparing monthly financial reports to assist in budget and expenditure tracking. The accountant may support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to queries from management or external auditors. The position does not supervise other staff. /This position reports to the MBCC Financial Manager and is part-time with flexible working hours of 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday. There will be a required minimum of 20 hours per week./ /This position would be eligible for health care benefits./ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and procedures of governmental accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. * Knowledge of state and federal policies and laws. * Ability to use and learn automated accounting and financial software. * Ability to plan, organize, gather information, and conduct research. * Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively. * Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using excel, word processing, database, email, internet, and other computer programs. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in accounting. * Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.
