A Day in the Life

The Technical Services department in Heerlen is responsible for addressing clinical/technical product inquiries for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The Technical Service Specialist is the central contact point with the customers and the local commercial and field service teams in EMEA for all product technical and application related questions. The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for providing remote technical support (phone, e-mail) for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Patient Care Systems business. This includes device functionality evaluation, device application advice, troubleshooting and initiate required escalations when needed. For this position, we expect you to be a medical technical professional with a passion for helping our CRM patients, who have an implanted pacemaker, defibrillator, or alike product. Our team consists of an implanted devices team and a Patient Care Systems team. This position is in the implanted devices team, who support internal and external customers with troubleshooting and technical questions on device functionality. In this position you will be able to read ECG’s and make an assessment on the technical device parameters based on your in-depth product knowledge. This includes understanding of product features, EMI, alerts, clinical diagnostics, device longevity calculations and much more.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Providing world class technical support to our customers and serving as a technical liaison between our stakeholders and the strategic business unit in the USA

  • On-call availability between 7AM-7PM (availability rotates between colleagues)

  • Performing technical activities requiring considerable judgement and may have ownership of projects

  • Ensuring all documentation/system entries are fully complete

  • Providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within the job area

  • Providing training to internal and external customers

  • Connecting easily with the stakeholders and is customer focused

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in (biomedical/electrical/mechanical) engineering, or health related degree with demonstrated technical skills

  • Fluency in English is a must. Fluency in another European language is a distinct advantage

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that are balanced with speed and effectiveness

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

  • Highly organized with the ability to be flexible, multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments and a strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • A very respected Team player with strong interpersonal skills, who’s able to establish relationships with colleagues in other countries and departments

In depth experience with medical devices and/or pacemakers and the implant procedures, Siebel/Service Now and analysing technical issues and processes for continuous improvement are desired. Besides that, understanding of OR environment and workflows, presentation and negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are considered an advantage.
