Medtronic Senior EHS Specialist in Heerlen, Netherlands

We are currently hiring a Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support Medtronic Service and Repair operations in EMEA (Heerlen, Limburg) and the Netherlands organization. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for implementation of EHS policies, programs, and systems to comply with local EHS regulations as well as Company policies, strategies, initiatives, and goals.

A Day in the Life

You will monitor workplace safety risks and environmental impacts through observation of work processes, equipment, and the work habits of employees. Your area of focus is diverse, supporting Depots, Field team, Customer Care and Technical Services for the entire EMEA region. Key areas of emphasis include machine and electrical safety, ionizing and nonionizing radiation safety, biological and chemical safety.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements.

• Develop, administer, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements as well as corporate EHS standards, policies and procedures.

• Assess the risks in the workplace including electrical, mechanical, chemical, biological agents, fire, radiation, PPE, manual handling, ergonomics.

• Identify opportunities for improvement and define control measures to mitigate risks.

• Perform incident investigations, root cause analysis. Ensure appropriate corrective and preventative action is taken where environmental, health, and safety hazards exist.

• Create and provide employee training and awareness on matters of environment, health, and safety. Coordinate EHS training process for existing and new employees in accordance with agreed training schedule.

• Collate and report the EHS metrics and KPI’s to leadership team.

• Facilitate EHS engagement communication via regular EHS committee meetings, active involvement programs, information boards, newsletters, and other communication forums.

• Report EHS incidents as required by the national legal requirements and corporate EHS standards.

• Cooperate with all relevant external agencies including Fire Services, Health and Safety authorities and Environmental agency.

• Conduct GEMBA walks for facility renovation projects.

Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, including engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene and/or safety

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant EHS experience

• Machine and electrical safety knowledge

• Fluent written and spoken English language

• Experience in planning, coordinating, communicating, influencing, achieving milestones, resolving issues

• Ability to work in a cross functional and global environment and cultural awareness

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently

Nice to Haves

• Master’s degree

• Experience supporting remote employees and/or field sales

• Environmental sustainability knowledge

• Good presentation skills
