Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center Medical Assistant Trainer - MA Certificate Required in Hayward, California

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Clinical Services, the MA Trainer performs a variety of tasks to ensure TVHC’s Medical Assistants are properly crossed-trained in all clinical departments. The MA Trainer performs full Medical Assistant responsibilities as part of the training process of new hires and provides one on one training to Medical Assistants for all competencies, including patient care responsibilities, lab, vaccine administration, infection prevention, and promotes TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards. The Medical Assistant trainer collaborates with clinic leadership to ensure TVHC Medical Assistants are fully trained and up to date with all job requirements across all of our locations.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with periodic Saturday hours.

Compensation: $26.86 - $28.88 per hour, depending on experience. This salary range includes a differential for training duties.

The pay for a selected candidate is determined by a variety of factors to ensure fair and equitable compensation. These factors include the candidate's experience, education, skills, training, licensure, certifications, and the specific scope of the role. Responsibilities:

  • Trains all new and current Medical Assistants with clinical competencies that includes Competencies, CLIA/Lab, vaccines, and system usage.

  • Performs all Medical Assistant job responsibilities utilizing best practice standards and complies with service excellence

  • Support new Medical Assistants in registering with EZIZ, CAIR Registry, Epic system, and any other system needed.

  • Monitor compliance to ensure all are up to date.

  • Partner with leadership to support clinical workflows, new product and equipment implementations,

  • Assists with quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control practices to assure compliance with internal and external regulations.

  • Provides mentoring, assessment and feedback regarding performance as part of the educational process.

  • Stays up-to-date with evidence-based best practices in the Medical Assistant industry.

  • Serve as Epic “superusers” with EHR training for staff. Provides orientation, ongoing individual support, and refreshers for all clinical staff in partnership with IT. Assists in the design and training of EHR workflows.

  • Acts as resource person for clinical staff to answer questions, coach and assess current staff in the performance of their job duties.

  • Creates new hire orientation schedules in collaboration with site leadership.

  • Provides back-up to clinical staff as necessary.

  • Fosters the development of professionalism and teamwork competencies within the workplace.

  • Other tasks assigned by direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certificate required.

  • BLS Certification required.

  • Must have at least three (3) years of recent clinical experience in a clinic setting required.

  • Experience in training or providing education required.

  • Experience with creating training material required.

  • Proficient with clinical competencies in each specialty, adult medicine, family medicine, women’s health, and pediatrics.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • Ability to travel to varies locations as required by supervisor.
