Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center Associate Dental Director in Hayward, California
Under the direct supervision of the CDO, the Associate Dental Director will oversee the dental services provided across all sites. In addition to direct patient services, the position works with other key administrative supervisory positions in the department and organization to ensure efficiency of staff, quality standards are consistently met, and safety precautions are maintained with strict observances with OSHA and TVHC’s Policies and Procedures. The position also assists and supports the CDO in the management of personnel, provider schedules, annual performance evaluations of staff, including disciplinary actions, and taking the lead in new dental projects and performance improvement plans. The position requires strong leadership skills, ability to work diplomatically between interdisciplinary groups, and ability to apply a solutions-oriented approach to dental office issues that may arise throughout the day.
Compensation: $195,000 - 220,000 annually, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care in the dental clinic at a minimum 24-28 hours per week and in emergency call situations as directed by the CDO.
Ensures new providers and support staff receive adequate orientation; assists CDO in maintenance of licensing and privileging of staff as needed.
In close collaboration with the CDO and the Dental Office supervisors, the Associate Dental Director:
Assures there is adequate day-to-day supervision of dentists and other professional dental staff such as: RDA’s, DA’s and Dental Hygienists.
Assists with the day-to-day oversight of the department to ensure there is adequate staffing at all sites.
Assist the CDO in planning and implementing new dental projects.
Assists with maintaining updated dental protocols.
Participates in peer and utilization review.
Provides feedback and supports CDO with performance evaluations for dentists and dental support staff.
Participates in the recruitment and selection of dental staff, as needed.
Assists CDO in the review and updating of dental policies, compliance requirements, and the development of quality assurance improvement plans as needed or required.
Attends on-site and off-site meetings with CDO to represent dental department and priorities of the Dental Department
Promotes the Service Excellence Standards, Mission Statement and strategic goals of Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc.
Reviews and resolves patient complaints with support of Chief Dental Officer and compliance department. Using a solutions-based approach, works diligently to problem-solve in a high stress and fast-moving work environment.
Responsible for following TVHC protocols and observance of current OSHA requirements and those particular to TVHC, Inc. Maintains confidentially regarding privileged, administrative, client information and Corporate Compliance in a professional manner.
Assumes other responsibilities at the direction of the Chief Dental Officer.

Requirements
Requires completion of the curriculum of an approved school of dentistry and possession of current CA DDS or DMD license.
Minimum 3 years of experience in dentistry, providing direct services in a small to medium practice and/or assisting in management of dental office.
Familiarity with both public and private dental benefit programs.
Qualifications:
Valid DEA and CPR.
Authoritative knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of primary dental care provided in a community health center setting necessary.
Ability to work on interdisciplinary basis with other departments and designated members of the health center’s Management Team.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.
Proven ability to work with multi-cultural and diverse client base; sensitivity to socio-cultural issues required.
Ability to work with related IT systems in Dental practice management. Strong computer skills required.
Must be able to travel to different dental locations, as needed, as directed by the program.
Demonstrates flexibility regarding job duties and assignments.
