Amazon Software Development Manager, Ring SITE in Hawthorne, California

Description

As Manager of Software Engineering, Ring SITE, this role will lead the Ring SITE team in Malvern. This is a visible and impactful role, as the individual in this role will own growing the team to deliver features and customer innovations for the Ring SITE (Security, Infrastructure, Tools, and Experience) products.

This role will work closely with both engineering leadership and product teams to deliver on the long-term vision. With a strong background in leading teams that build and maintain highly scalable, business-critical systems, and a keen focus on operational excellence and automation, an individual in this role will own the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable end-to-end solutions.

The role will also be responsible for driving and guiding the strategic technical roadmap of the Ring SITE products, ensuring they meet high standards of performance, reliability, and security. This includes scaling infrastructure, improving site reliability, enhancing developer tools, and optimizing customer experiences through innovative solutions. This leader will foster collaboration across teams, provide mentorship to engineers, and implement best practices for software development and operations.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and operations roadmap for the team.

• Execute on the vision and strategy for Ring subscription software platform.

• Monitor, refine and manage key customer based metrics.

• Work with the security product teams to deliver on new features and products.

• Drive engineering best practices around security, privacy and reliability into the team day-to-day.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
