We are looking for a Teacher Assistant to join our Head Start team at Coastal Community Action! CCA is a private nonprofit corporation providing a variety of services to a target population of low-income children and families in ten counties in eastern NC, with a mission of empowering them to become self-sufficient.

What You'll Do:

• Assists with the coordination and the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses the educational, social, emotional, nutritional, and physical development of the children.
• Uses positive guidance methods such as redirection and reinforcement; reasonable and consistent guidelines and anticipates problem areas in advance when possible.
• Adapts lesson plan, method of instruction, use of classroom materials, level of assistance, and learning environment as needed to meet the needs of children having a disability according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP/IFSP).
• Assists with providing 2 Home Visits each year to parents and children. Share information with parents regarding their childs development utilizing data gathered from ongoing assessments.
• Assists with providing a minimum of 2 Parent-Teacher Conferences each year to share information about the childs individual development and update family goals. (2 conferences each year for Head Start children, 3 conferences each year for Early Head Start children).
• Assists with the planning and supervising of activities within all learning environments (i.e. the classroom environment, outdoors, field trips).
• Assists with the development and implementation of lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of children.
• Partners with families to include parent participation in goal setting for both the child and the family.

What You'll Have:

• CDA preschool credential required or an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or an Associates Degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Head Start NC Pre-K Teacher Aides are required to have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or an Associates Degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education.
• One or more years of experience teaching pre-school children.
• Valid background clearance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.25 - $17.00 per hour
